Questions
Frequently asked
Is this covered by insurance?
The CBT-I Intensive is reimbursable with most insurance providers (a receipt is provided — please check your specific plan), and it's covered under NIHB. NIHB-covered services are delivered in collaboration with Good Magpie Psychotherapy (Steve Handy, RSW, MSW). A payment plan is also available on request — we don't want cost to be an obstacle.
Do I need a physician referral?
A physician referral is welcomed but not required. You can start with the screening on your own.
Is this virtual?
Yes — sessions are held by secure video and available to residents anywhere in Ontario.
Is this the same as a sleep study?
No. A sleep study (polysomnography) measures your sleep physiology, usually for diagnosing conditions like sleep apnea. CBT-I is a behavioural treatment for insomnia — it changes the thoughts and habits that keep you awake.
Ready to improve your sleep?
The first step is a short screening — it takes just a few minutes and helps make sure CBT-I is right for you.
